Equine superfoods with Dr. Carol Michael

Boost your horse's health with "supplements" you can browse for free

Carol Michael, PhD, is a UK based microbiologist who has been working in the racing industry for 25 years, developing feed supplements to help horses cope with the stresses of work. She is an expert on how chemicals found in plants affect the horse's immune defense and metabolism. In recent years, Dr. Michael has been involved in studying the foraging habits of semi-feral Welsh ponies and solving the mystery of how browsing on wildflowers and bitter shrubs apparently prevents the ponies from developing metabolic disorders, obesity and laminitis. In this series, Dr. Michael talks about her own paddock management, suitable hedgerow plants for feeding your horse and what kind of lifestyle best supports your horse's natural hormonal function to prevent disease.
