Hoof anatomy with Professor Robert Bowker, part 1
The digital cushion
The shoe inside the hoof

When most horse owners think of horse shoes, they think of the ones made of metal, which are nailed to the hoof. But inside the hoof, there is a different kind of "shoe". It is the digital cushion - the horse's natural shock absorber and in order for it to work, it actually has to be built up. It's not just there from day one. Professor Robert Bowker explains how the digital cusion develops all the way from goo to running shoe.
