Friendship

Emily McDonald and the Meadow Family, part 2

Taming the ponies

No ropes, no pens, no carrots

There are plenty of horse owners who will tell you that horses are naturally afraid of everything. "After all, they are a prey species" and all that. But how true is that statement really? Of course, horses have evolved to be careful. But there is a difference between being sceptical and being phobic. And the way strange objects are met by the Meadow Family ponies who - until a few months ago -  had no history with humans might be a clue to how much of the fear we see in horses is really about us and not so much about the objects themselves.
